Canal and river cruising in Europe is a relaxing experience that is inherently flexible in nature. The following itinerary is a SAMPLE of the places that you can expect to see and visit during your cruise.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included on board daily, beginning with dinner on Sunday and ending with breakfast on Saturday. Open bar, all excursions, and transfers, Internet access Wi Fi 24 /7 (subject to reception)
Water levels, waterway traffic, and maintenance of canals and locks have an effect on canal and river cruising itineraries. Some waterways are subject to occasional closures because of drought, storms, floods, canal/lock repairs, or other unforeseen circumstances. In the event of such occurrences, the appropriate itinerary changes will need to be made.
Your Chef will discuss, with you, your food preferences, and cook your meals A la Carte.
Your Sommelier will discuss your wine preferences, and choose the wines WITH you.
Your Tour Guide will explain all the various options, as there is SO much to see in this magical region.
SUNDAY, DAY 1 STRASBOURG –
Meet at your Hotel in Strasbourg at 2:00 p.m. and transfer to ‘Aurora’ . You are welcomed on board with an aperitif and some time to unpack, discover the delights of Aurora & relax, peruse tonight’s menu over happy hour before enjoying your first gourmet dinner on board.
MONDAY, DAY 2 STRASBOURG – BRUMATH
We start today with a breakfast cruise through Strasbourg, past the Palais de Europe and into the forest of Brumath.
After lunch you have many options:
La Petit France / Barrage Vauban / Strasbourg Cathedral.
Or Fischer Brewery and master Chocolatier
TUESDAY, DAY 3 BRUMATH – HOCHFELDEN
Sit on deck with another coffee, or walk or ride along the towpath, as we cruise at your speed … then after lunch drive “the Wine Route” to Obernai walk the ramparts and town center and partake in a wine tasting.
Or Meteor Brewery and the Archeology museum in Haguenau.
WEDNESDAY, DAY 4 HOCHFELDEN – SAVERNE
Another morning cruise past flower-filled half-timber framed houses .
Then even more choices … of what you shall you visit.
: The Schlumph Museum ( the biggest car museum in Europe… many Bugatti ) in Molsheim
: Saverne Botanical garden and the ruins of Chateau Haut Barr (the “eye of Alsace”)
: A benedictine Abbey and a Jewish culture Museum in Marmoutier
: Camp de Struthof – the only concentration camp on French soil.
THURSDAY, DAY 5 SAVERNE – LUTZELBOURG
Pre-cruise visit to a local market, then on to Lutzelbourg – the village they use for postcards.
This seems to be all about the tours… but cruising onboard your private floating mansion is the special part.
Today you could visit either:
: Graufthal, a troglodyte village and La Petite Pierre with its amazing fortifications
Or Lalique Crystal museum
Or “ Maginot Line” and go into the fortification
FRIDAY, DAY 6 LUTZLEBOURG – ARZVILLER
Final day cruise, and something very special.
The only side incline plane ship elevator in France.
After another memorable lunch…on our shady fore deck !

stopping to take in the spectacular panorama at Mt. Dabo chapel
Or the traditional faience Pottery of Nidervillerp and the Lehrer cristallerie
SATURDAY, DAY 7
After leisurely breakfast, we transfer you back to your hotel or Basel airport.
The end of a perfect week ….
Besides all the tour options listed above, there is the option of Hot air ballooning
Or time spent in the Spa of Sulzbad: with facial massage treatments or just relaxing.
